The degradation of natural and seminatural ecosystems due to
land-use intensification or abandonment of traditional land use is
an increasing problem in many parts of the world.
We develop
methods for the optimization of restoration measures and for the
evaluation of restoration success in grasslands and wetlands. The
aim of our research is to analyse mechanisms of vegetation
succession in relation to environmental conditions on restoration
sites in comparison to reference sites.
